One of the references in my earlier post is available online. There, you will see that Griffiths states on pg 29 that:
... Osiris, unlike Adonis, was regarded as a ruler of the dead and was not resurrected in the guise of a young god.
Osiris has a 'renewed life which is eternal' (24), but that takes place in the Underworld, not in this life.
