I would of course defer to the knowledge of those with building skills, but I most certainly do not agree that people could not build the pyramids today. If the decision were to be made, the money raised and the labour employed, then of course it could be built. It would be unrealistic to set a deadline for completion, but impossible? No.
I do not know enough about Chris Dunn's book to comment, but I think the operative word in your statement is 'if'!!
