We do seem to be in fairly close agreement.
But I don't think there's any fundamental difference between any two men from any time or culture which has ever flourished on earth. Almost all differences are superficial and have to do with the ay the culture views things like life, deities, industry and knowledge.
We may have far more in common with the great pyramid builders than with the Egyptians who wrote the book of the dead. The former were like us in most ways but likely didn't value individual effort or worth like late 19th century America did. While later Egyptians were obviously highly superstitious the pyramid builders are not so obviously so. While they were pagans they might not have taken the worship of their Gods as being of great importance to the living. The Gods may have been closer to role models and beings who were not to be insulted or trifled with.
