> 1-Plato( 427-347 B.C.) NEVER used the expression "9000 years
> before Solon", or "900 years" or "9000 months". HE SAID:
> 5000 !
> Solon (b. 640/638 BC. - d. 560/558 BC.)+ 5000= 5500-5600BC!
You totally lost me there.
In addition, how are the Greek characters for 9000 and 5000 similar? 5000 is represented as an Epsilon sign, and 9000 is represented as a Theta sign (upright oval with a line running horizontally across the center) both with small 'commas' before them to signify the thousand. Even if one uses classical Greek, they are not similar. Here are ancient Greek numerals - sorry the software will not allow me to reproduce them as a post - it turns to gibberish when I use the ALT Keystrokes:Quote
Critias: Let me begin by observing first of all, that nine thousand was the sum of years which had elapsed since the war which was said to have taken place between those who dwelt outside the Pillars of Heracles and all who dwelt within them; this war I am going to describe.
