I think it's worth pointing out that the cartouche of Khufu in the Great Pyramid is not unique in a IV Dynasty context.
A very similar red ochre cartouche was discovered in the Bent Pyramid at Dahshur. It too was never meant to be seen as it was only exposed by tomb robbers who cut a tunnel in the Upper Chamber. The cartouche was of Snefru and was on the exposed core blocks and up-side-down.
It's fully described and illustrated in Fakhry's book on his work at Dahshur "The Monuments of Snefru at Dahshur" Vol 1.
