You have eloquently confirmed my reservations:
the Grafitti- mixed with contemporary grafitti- is part of an increasing volume of 'circumstantial' evidence. The tiny bauble with his name scratched upon it found at abydos is part of the 'proof' for the existence of his 'cult'. A well chosen aphorism to describe the credibility of this mythical entity.

Not necessarily 'unfounded' rumours and allegations. Various reservations were expressed on another thread here as to the suitability of Dr Hawass to head his field of archaeology. These reservations were expressed mostly by alternative enthusiasts who would not personally know Dr Hawass.
Mr Hancock on the other hand does know Dr Hawass and would be privvy to 'rumours' not necessarily emanating from alternative sources. I find it difficult to imagine that there would not also be dissatisfaction with Zahi from within the orthodox community, as his numerous TV appearances portray him- i say this generously- as little more than a self-aggrandising pompous ass.
