Sorry, we don't have pix of this. The next time Santha and I get into the relieving chambers she will definitely try to photograph some examples. The thing is you see a gap between two blocks that's maybe an quarter of an inch wide and you shine a light in there, and way back between the two blocks you can see quarry marks. Maybe some sort of fibre optic system would be best to get a proper shot?
As to a "deal" with Hawass, this is what happened. It wasn't about getting access to anything in exchange for anything. It was a simple act of basic courtesy. What I recall is that John West and I became increasingly uncomfortable with weird tales about Zahi that were circulating on the internet. From our own experience at Giza we knew that most of these tales were complete lies and bunkum. My recollection (exact chronology may be off) is that when we met Zahi at a conference hosted by Art Bell (on a cruise ship off Alaska!) we found out that he is human like everyone else and that he was suffering a lot of personal pain about all the crap that was being spread around about him. So we put out a statement on the net supporting Zahi and rejecting the key allegations being made about him that we knew to be false. We also decided with Zahi that while he and we would inevitably continue to disagree profoundly over a whole range of substantive issues about the Giza plateau we would desist from personal attacks on one another and on each other's integrity.
Hope this helps to answer your question.
Best wishes
