Just a bit of generalization about sand movement. I'm sorry I don't recall exactly where/when, but I saw a documentary (in Egypt) a few years ago (Nat. Geo. or Discovery channel) about a village being swallowed up by a massive sand dunes; week by week, month by month, more of the village disappeared. THAT was only taking a few years to do. And recall images of the last Iraq war, after some of the 1 to 2 day sandstorms that occurred, the equipment was 'duned up' by 2 to 3 feet, in that short period.
In the U.S. depression-era 'dustbowl days', farms that went idle were quickly over-run with dust dunes, with many of the old farmhouses completely covered after several months.
Also, (I live on the Atlantic coast, USA) I have seen the effects of a one-day hurricane; large outdoor swimming pools completely filled with beach sand the day after the storm passed. Yes, a major hurricane has higher winds than you will typically find in a desert, but you often encounter winds up to gale force in a desert sandstorm.
It is not far fetched that the Sphinx enclosere would have filled in a decade, or even a little less.
