But at the core of my original question was whether evolution and intervention ('creation') were mutually exclusive, competing concepts, as their partisan advocates frequently indicate. I think the consensus is that they do not exclude one another. While accidental mutation is a factor in evolving modified, or, eventually, new species (mind you, after several mutations/modifications, you will arrive at a new species), this does not mean that ALL such changes in the past were 'accidental'.
It seems to have stimulated a fairly good debate, and that was the intent.
I strongly advocate an open minded approach, whether one is primarily religious in outlook, or scientific.
