For all practical purposes it IS IN FACT a "physical impossibility", at Khafre's causeway.
It is 494 metres (541 yards) in length and is claimed (here) to be an average of 4.6 degrees of slope.
What Steve and Cladking are proposing (LOL! fantasizing ) it seems , and any other of these"nonsensical water schemes", is connecting to a lake or moat around the pyramid.
The lake itself must have some height lets for example call it 5 metres high
Basic trigonometry means the series of locks must rise 40 metres + 5 = 45 metres
If they for example attempted to have say 10 such connected locks they would be 50 metres long by so much say 10 metres wide and 45 metres /10 = 4.5 m incrementally increasing height
BUT LET us for example double the number to 20 connected locks:
they would be 25 metres long by so much say 10. wide (circa 10 m) and
45/20 incremental height
Incremental volume fill equals 562.5 cubic metres of water EACH Lock!!!!!!
To gravity feed 20 locks to fill with water each requiring 562.5 cubic metres ! How long does it take to fill a household swimming pool and don't you need a pipe or on this scale a huge conduit to direct the water
Bottom line is they could drag several 100's of stones ( NOTE STEVE average 2,500 KG - not 'pounds" LBS) in less time than hypothetically in dream world they were waiting for their multiple swimming pools to fill up somehow gravity fed!
Hanslune, I know has an qualified engineering background, he raised the point of the watertight gates!
They were up to 45 metres in height . Think about , ponder, that.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE
(would be extremely difficult (and equally ridiculous and pointless waste of effort) in 21st century with diesel pumps, steel, bearings , rubber , plastic and hydraulic technology!)
BUT carry on dreaming .... this thread is super duper FUNNY! and therefore entertaining!
MAYBE THEY HAD MAGIC superstitious water?????? and did it with a magic spell?
Cheers
