You might see if you can find a course for the Ur Nile. I'd be curious to know how far upstream you have to go to get to the requisite altitude for canals. I don't think it's very far.
Hi Cladking,
I did that ages ago. I my opinion, it's not an option. You would need to build major ducts to carry the water over 300 miles. You somewhat addressed this in 2015.

There is plenty of water today behind the Pyramids, no need to go any further. You haven't taken the time to Google Earth it. There are signs everywhere. If not on barren land, ask yourself, which came first, the Hotels and Golf Courses, most of whom are surrounded by water. They appear to be designed to take advantage of the water reserves. A dead give away are all those dark black/green areas. Many of which have growing trees & brush in them, if not standing water.
If that much water is there today, there would have been even more 4,000 years ago. That just stands to reason. Many of those blacked/green depressions, fill with water and drain on a random basis. They are fed by underground sources. If and when you use Google Earth, it contains the ability to use all the different times in which the Satellite has passed over. The filling is only revealed by doing this. I doubt very much anyone here on GH, will take the time to do that. You would need to be a little obsessed, as I was.
It's as easy as that... Humans always gravitate and build where there is water.
