That's funny. When we're using ramps to lift stones almost all the stones are at the bottom and there's a pyramid shaped hill under it anyway. As long as it's ramps there's nothing at the top except tiny little stones.
But as soon as someone makes a proposal for an easy way to lift stones all of a sudden they're big stones, the top is big, and the hill disappears.
Once you accept the obvious that stones were pulled straight up the sides it really doesn't matter where the men are. You could even use longer ropes and use draft animals.
Everyone has a vested interest in the pyramids having been very difficult to build. Everyone wants to believe it required enormous physical exertion on the parts of thousands of men. Why is this?
