Limestone:
Some the weathering you are looking at is caused by salt exfoliation.
NOT immersion I salt water
PLEASE look it up.
The weathering and erosion of limestone at Giza is a prime denominator of our understanding re the timeline.
To a large degree it is still hotly debated
Red Granite:
Both KHafre's and Menkaure's Pyramid are believed to have a girdling of red granite, not the enclosure walls.
It's employment was symbolic
It is also believed that the Sphinx was painted red.
there is even a record of an expedition sent to gather red ochre during Khufu's reign ( the reference for same eludes me right now)
