I'm not sure what this sentence means.
Sunlight is hard on ropes but few ropes would survive long enough for the cumulative effects of sunlight to weaken them. Heart alone is not very important to the wear and tear on ropes unless it's excessive to my knowledge. Obviously a rope getting hot from usage is experiencing a lot of wear but if use causes heat then you probably just need a bigger rope.
I've used ropes for years and years. I once had a hemp rope for a swing for thirty years.
It might be pointed out that worn and undamaged ropes can still be used at a lower capacity. There's little limit to how much usage can be applied to a well used rope.
Frankly, I believe that across the pyramid top they used a chain just to reduce total rope needs. Their economy demanded miles and miles of rope every year so a few extra miles was almost insignificant to total rope demand. It might have increased rope production less than 20%. "Ramps" would be 40% of GNP. That's 40% of the entire economy and not 40% of only the rope industry. Indeed, the usage of ramps would increase rope needs as well in many ways. They would still need ropes to drag stones and the industries supporting pyramid construction would need more rope.
Rope is far far cheaper than ramps.

Man fears the pyramid, time fears man.
