Thanks for the lead. It's the first new one I've had in a while. Unfortunately it already is starting to look like a dead end.

Utterance 37.

30a. O N., shut now thy two jaws which were divided. Pśš-kf-instrument (or, -bread).

While there are distinct similarities between this bronze object and the device or icon used in the opening of the mouth or an embalming ritual or ceremony, I believe these similarities are likely coincidental. Certainly there are possibilities that the bronze object is not a hook or that the stone one derived from a hook. It is believed that bodies were encased in natron to be dried but it's possible that at some point they were suspended from a hook. Stone would imply most of the water had been already removed.

There are some interesting possibilities here but one thing is certain and that is that the "hook" is virtually defined by its shape and the fact that it has "rivets" to attach it to something (probably wood).

It should also be noted that the location these were found is rather surprising for a "ritualistic icon". They were far up inside the air-shaft implying they had fallen from above (possibly pushed up). The stick found with it could have even been a part of the same "tool" or "icon". I'm of the opinion that all three objects were lost down the shaft during construction but, obviously, this is far less than certain and the presence of "rivets" makes it less so.

Man fears the pyramid, time fears man.
