I’ve been reading the paper
Title: Decans, Djed Pillars, and Seasonal-Hours in Ancient Egypt
Authors: Dodd, W. W.
Journal: Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Vol. 105, No. 5, p.187
Bibliographic Code: 2011JRASC.105..187D
[adsabs.harvard.edu]
This paper proposes a method and approach to determining the decans and suggests pseudo-decans based on simulation of the night sky in Egypt circa 2,500BC.
In the list is Alhena, otherwise known as Gamma Geminorum and is one of the stars that I have suspected in the story of Djedi as being a “sanctuary of Thoth”. A sanctuary of Thoth or station of the moon should in theory be a Decan star so it is interesting to see Alhena nominated using their method.
