Hi BC and possibly Yve is still here

I'm glad you are getting used to Stellarium...now take your screen shot to Paint or some such thing, and adjust the 'canvas' to a puter's screen-size or a little less...preferably less so it fits in the post. Then save and link to future posts. It saves folk having to scroll left and right to see what is going on in your images. I fail there sometimes too lol

Anyway, I wrote the below before and will include for the now...

Possibly more problems than solutions due to the info in the posts above for this thread. But you folk sure are observant in delving into the topic...but maybe we won’t get lost amid the descriptions of other cultures that border on the edge of Egypt and its offerings.

If other cultures have a say, then we should include India too. I won’t go there...don’t know much about it...but some things I have come across for its math are quite startling in time periods, lengths of, and quite the many allusions to observations of astronomy and which stars actually mean something besides being ‘keepers’ of moments-in-time. I’ve still to work out what that may mean because of celestial cycles and which stars mean which gods/heroes/participants in legendary tales. I stopped trying a while back but may get there one day.

But India does have their books which incorporates not only their own lengthy observations of things and translations of such into their ‘modern day’ understandings, but also assessments of those by later adepts and ‘scientists’ of the time, giving over – certainly personal – translations of universal wonders and cycles. It seems that a great deal of info was passed onto them from other cultures...not that they learned themselves primarily but certainly took that info further.

So how about we use references of things from other cultures as an aside or supporting evidence for what AE has or had?

Is there any use in using Ancient Greece and its descriptions of astronomy/myths/legends/science toward what AE termed as ‘Isis’? AG has another name for her, which may be ingested by other ‘gods’ to become a connected but separate form of Isis. AE also has other terms for Isis because of where she is and what she is doing, becoming other names/legends/myths/gods/glyphs, and not only at the time of Pre Dynastic and later times, but also during the foundation of AE along the Nile because that info came with the pre-dynastic hierarchy as they took ancient Nile areas toward successful utilisation of what the areas offered.

It is possible to identify astronomical cycles – great ones at that – in AE temples and writings, but we only have things that survive from them in order to play with them and what they mean...besides what legends/texts etc actually state.

And again we delve into murky areas of what things mean when we overlay legends etc to astronomy because time periods do offer up better moments considering when legends etc are found to first be recorded in something we can access. We do not know what oral traditions existed before ‘recorded’ traditions...we do not know what allusions astronomy has upon legends etc in those records...but we moderns do have astronomical software and what science has done to make that software as exact as it can be when ‘natural’ cycles occur.

26,000, 41,000, 100,000 year cycles are things we can be quite sure of now, and it looks like our ancient ancestors also were aware of them too. And that right there boggles the mind a little. The Dendera Zodiac was mentioned above as depicting c. 50BCE because of the accepted moment when the temple was extended which includes the zodiac as part of its construction. In another topic I put forward c. 230BCE because of a certain astronomical alignment which also confers with other parts of the temple’s construction date. It identifies when a certain astronomical point reaches its lowest culmination according to the horizon as viewed from the temple. If we did that kind of ‘acceptance’ to all that folk do in assessing what mysteries mean, then Khufu’s pyramid depicts its own construction age; Indian astronomical and math understandings do not identify great lengths of time; and the Mayans knew nothing about the ages of man ascending toward and from 2012 onward when the Age of Aquarius was coming into breath, let alone breathing on its own.

We may as well dream about what the ancients meant, and all of us come up with interpretations that do not align with actuality, such is the plethora cultures that have similar but differing descriptions of the very same thing.

We are trying to define what that same thing is, aren’t we?

Not just what the ancients may mean, but what they do mean.

If that meaning starts with astronomy and its cycles, then once again – for all who have delved into this kind of stuff – those playing right here have yet another opportunity to try again.

And today’s folk have access to translations offered by professionals, amateurs, and the weird and wonderful, about all kinds of stuff.

But let’s start with AE stuff. What is Osiris besides a constellation of stars depicted in Orion/Sah?

Osiris seems to be so much more than a group of stars...a father/ancestor/pre-incarnation to the Pharaoh...a direct descendant and reincarnation in different forms from Atum...and THE god of the annual cycle of floral provision of foods.

Osiris, as a constellation, exists beneath the celestial equator, and never rises above it in all the celestial cycles...beneath the celestial ground/horizon that is that limit while the ecliptic roams about a little like a snake...and Osiris/Orion/Sah does rise above the ecliptic during Precession.

How much time and observation of this unfolds before it is set in stone?

And does ‘set in stone’ do Khufu’s Pyramid justice?

Bugger...now I head back to Gobekli Tepe as being our oldest observatory that we can appreciate if not decipher, and that just won’t do for this topic. It is a representation of oral traditions...’scientifically’ constructed according to its time...and then constructed as it is in all its ‘circles’. But folk need to read the annual excavation reports given over by the excavators to know what was actually found because just one missing piece from those reports upends what ‘professionals’ offer as fact...because they don’t read...or they omit from their own regurgitations.

I read several books on Carter’s finding and description of Tut’s tomb, but only he had descriptions of boomerangs/throw sticks found within the tomb. I subsequently accepted that some folk do not want to approach things they are not comfortable with because they have no answer for it...because they cannot reference their views or non-answers of such things.
