I think the 14 number refers to the number of chromosomes in specific grains or legumes. These are Einkorn wheat, barley, rye, peas, and lentils.
If you look into the 20 number you see kannabis, corn, and cocoa.

Did the Pythagoreans avoid eating broad beans because of the affects to people suffering from favism or did it relate to the number 12 being sacred. The secret might lie in the regular dodecahedron and it's dihedral angle.
