I read The 12th Planet when it came out, then high school, girls, beer, and cars took priority. I still have my copy.

I knew then that Sitchin's astrophysics was a non-starter for me, and so much seemed based on the alien planet/race concept that I couldn't make all the ideas work together properly. I am wondering if Sitchin is my shortest path to laying out a chronology of events that best fits a modern spreadsheet sensibility. Sitchin seems to have done a lot of the work that I would have to reproduce, and I wonder if I can remove/replace the origin of the Anunnaki from an alien planet Nibiru, and instead insert having them be descendents of homo erectus who learned the secret of immortality inthe Sundaland.

I read the Enuma Elish, and other ancient texts both as a child fascinated by mythology, and as part of my exegis from religion in the mid 1980s. I at least passingly familiar with the ground, but I have a new set of glasses which forces me to look at that old familar ground in a new way.
