Very very few people understand science. Even individuals trained in science often have a very limited understanding.

The simple fact is that most people BELIEVE they understand science and/ or reality even when they have no training at all. Very few people will defer to theory or even try to understand it.

Everyone really should know this. Part of the reasons workers are being micromanaged so badly is that most people simply can't be trusted operating, maintaining, or cleaning billion dollar equipment. Given their head most workers will run supertankers into bridges or fly jets into mountains. Quality crashes since initiative is frowned upon. The alternative is believed to be rebuilding factories every few weeks.

Part of the reason for so many alternative ideas is that Egyptologists tend to hold scientists in low regard and they BELIEVE they understand science well enough to go it alone.
