Both use ancient mythology in their books for reasons that I can't give here, space prohibiting.
Astronomers frequently look at the myths, or HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS, for clues to the ancient sky.
It's not a matter of mixing and matching, for some it is a matter of - do the ancient tales retain a record of events, places and peoples?
A nuclear physicist and 2 astronomers weren't stigmatized by referring to ancient tales, I wouldn't worry about thanos
