I use microsoft excel and this is what happens when i put real root 2 into it.
1.414213562 real root 2
2 --------- real root 2 squared
3.142696805 real root 2 x 20/9
9.87654321 (real root 2 x 20/9) squared
4.444444444 real root 2 x real root 2 x 20/9.
i can't stop these numbers happening
22/7 x 2499/2500 = 3.1416 no need to use excel for this one.
using 22/7 this is what happens when root 2 is approximated to 99/70
99/70 becomes one side of the inscibed square within the circle. The chord against this side is measured as 99/70 x 10/9 = 990/630 the circle circumference is 3960/630 = 44/7. the radius is 1.
They did not need to know pi they only needed to know root 2 and its variations expressing themselves in base 7 and 11 but these versions of pi are there within the system whether they knew them or not.
Egyptian pi is an expression of area not circumference, 3125/1000 x 256/81 = 9.87654321 as an area so the square root is real root 2 x 20/9.
You can't say the Egyptians did not know 3125 or 1000 or that they didn't use 1/9 or 10/9.(3.125 is 25/8)
The system they used incorporated Pi as 22/7 whether they knew it ot not, it makes no difference.
It seems much more likely they knew the square side x 10/9 x 4 gives the escribed circle and this incorporates Pi as 22/7, they did not need to know this. However it eems unlikely that they would not be aware of it.
For me the important evidence is the Harris and Stockdale Megalithic foot of 14.142 inches because this is obviously derived from the foot of 12 imperial inches.
They were expressing circumferences in root 2 units.
