variable pi using the canon of ancient measure

Michell's canon fixes pi as 22/7 against a 25000 mile circumference as 132000000/42000000 feet.

It is no coincidence that pi as 3.1416 is 25000 miles less 10 miles

132000000 - 52800 = 131947200



131947200/132000000 x 22/7 = 3.1416.


42000000 x 3.1416 = 131947200.

the unit working here is 4 x 14.666r = 58.666r or 4 x the eclipse unit the canon working as an eclipse prediction system.


Here a fixed diameter 42000000 imperial feet translates to a measurable circle using whatever version of pi is chosen.


42000000 x 3.14 = 131880000

this is 120000 feet short of 132000000

At Stonehenge a fixed circumference is used to calculate variable pi, 897.60 feet / 22/7 = 285.60 feet and by Thom pi 1632/520 = 286 imperial feet.

real pi lies somewhere in between and 3.1416 is easily located.

Michell's canon accounts for variable pi and the GP appears to be designed against it where one solar day is represented by 100 imperial inches within a base 100 system. At SH 1 foot appears to represent 100 units. Same system different scale.


132000000 imperial feet fixes pi as 22/7 and as 366.666r solar days.

366.666r x 360 x 5280 = 132000000.

Using the canon eclipse pi is 3.135873016

To calculate lunar saros equivalent days multiply solar days by 0.96 the Roman? foot.

366.666r x 0.96 = 352 lunar days the eclipse year.

To calculate lunar nodal equivalent days multiply solar days by 34/33 = 377.777r days

377.777r x 360 x 1000 = 136000000 Thom's system of measurement x 0.96 = 362.666r

Thom pi is 3.1416 / 1001 x 1000 a base 100 unit

31416/1632 = 19.25 x 520 = 10010 / 364 = 27.5

the 364 day system is eye wateringly complex as used at SH.

However, one canonical calculation explains all.

364 x 360 x 1000 = 131040000

132000000 - 131040000 = 960000 imperial feet.
