I'm sure there are tonnes of rational scientists in the Egyptian administration. They're probably welcomed with open arms to raise the perceived qualification of government. But I imagine a tried and true political tool for power and control is to 'catch' your competition doing something that could be slightly related to or supportive of anything in that realm of 'sacrilegious ideology' and then publicly shame them and oust them from government. And its probably more of a game at this point. Most don't really care so much about the sacrilege, but find the last bits of great value in the opportunity for a power play. So intelligent people wait for opportunities to sneak in a test here or there, but mostly fear the real career ending vulnerability anyone has who denies that available bully tactic. Not to mention the social pariah they'd become. Its akin to an American politician being discovered to be a draft dodger or some kind of anti nationalist socialist.

That kind of social weapon will survive as long as there's a generation that still abides by it. Hence the need to outlive that generation to make any real progress.

But with the internet available to the younger generation, its much harder to oppress a population with ignorance. Nowhere to hide anymore. So the final chapter of this 'tactic of information suppression' is happening now. So its more of a game at this point rather than a spiral eye'd cult. Tic Toc. Just hope I live long enough to see the next generation make some steps. Hope they have the balls to do something.
