Hi David,
I'm not sure who you addressed this post to named Richard, but it was Jacob who was wondering how the Barleycorn factor you mentioned of .36666 in. equated to Pi. This post clarifies that well enough I think. However, I would like to also point out that the decimal value you mention of 22/7 / 6 = .523809524 is one I am more familiar with as the decimal fraction of the Old Meter to RC cubit x 39.375 ins. = 20.625 ins. AE RC. I think if Jacob is still reading this post he can pull out the geometric diagram he made that depicts this ratio of the half Meter value 19.6875 as 21/22 arc to chord 20.625 ratio of Pi at 22/7. Although the original question he and I had was in response to this post initially:

This is as you say, an interesting sub thread topic on it's own. Here is something I found interesting in it recently:
<1.5 x 10/9 = 1.666666666666666666666666666666r cubed equsls 4.62962963
divided into the cube of phos = 729000000>
This cubed factor can be expressed another way as the cube of 10^3 / 6^3 = 4.6296296r. If this figure is cubed once again, and filled with a Water gr. value of 252 per cu/in. it produces the total 25005.71559 grs., which is in excess of 25,000 by the familiar ratio 4375/4374. This ratio turns up time and again not only in Volumetric units, but astronomic units such as the Canonical Precession Yr. cycle of 25,920 yrs. factored by 25,000 unit x 28/27 (Mansions of the Moon system) = 25925.925925r. / (4375/4374) = 25,920 yrs. Or as I previously mentioned, the ratio between the two Roman Ft. values of 11.664 ins and 11.6666r ins. Michell noted long ago the 25/24 ratio relationship of his Canonical Earth Circ. of 24,883.2 Mi,to this Precession cycle as well. Which topic has been one of my favorite subjects to examine over years of discussions here. But it's too early to tell if those old discussions will be of any assistance to this current topic mystery as to if and how the AE's could know and calculate the SOL as I have been describing it.
Time will tell as the old saying goes, just hope it doesn't take me an entire Precession cycle to figure that out now LOL!
