Hi Jim,
I'm not sure we are living on the same planet right now.:) The Earth doesn't have a radius, it has radii, plural due to it's Oblate shape. And none of those radii come close to being 3937.5 Mi. The minimum Polar radius can be deduced from the Meridian Circ. radius in my model as shown here:
25,000 Mi. x (175/175) = 24,857.95243 Mi. / Pi(take your pic as long as it is used consistently, how about I use that 355/113 you mentioned on another topic a while back) = 7912.531338 diameter / 2 =3956.265669 Mi. From that Median value the Minimum Polar radius can be found less a (629/630) part = 3949.985882 Mi. And to find the Maximum Equatorial, use the ratio (297/296) = 3963.330766 Mi. Now working forwards again, this x 2 and 355/113 = 24,902.34375 Mi. x (256/255) = 25,000 Mi.
The AE's used an Oblate Equatorial extension of a 1/296th. part added to the Polar Radius although it is known today to be a somewhat smaller factor of 1/297.33th. part. It is precise enough in any case. The Minimum Polar radius at close to 3950 Mi. is still larger than 3937.5 Mi. by 12.5 Mi. I guess that big of a difference from the Meter radius figure you mention must be due to when she's wearing her high heels.:)
Btw, that 355/113 Pi is a (2845/2846) ratio difference from 22/7 Pi.
