But then on a completely different track, there is a pair of hieroglyphs that has intrigued me for a while now; on the upper left of the image you posted is an insect and another symbol to its right. They are always together (?) If this is a bee, then it rings Mesopotamian bells for me. The righthand symbol resembles MU, the age, the renown, the name, and the lefthand would be BI, the bee, the beer, and even being. (I wrote an article here in August 2016, The Rustle of Stones, mentioning BI in that context) So my point is that MU-BI is repeated many times after the (large) numbers in the Sumerian King List, equally intriquing. I'm absolutely not pushing the theory that the early Sumerian symbols and the hieroglyphs are one and the same - don't have the expertise, don't have the time. Just wondering about these two. Any thoughts?
