The problem being that in the case of the G1 polygonal block work is that its effect would be to reduce overall structural integrity.

The small metal clasps, presumably copper or bronze set into multi-ton blocks would have zero effect.
Either the builders were seriously deluded or the clasps had another purpose.

Yes it certainly was, the entire Andes range being the product of plate tectonics.
Question is, relative timescales..??
