Hello to all members of this discussion board, i'm a new member, and this will be officially my first post/reply.

First of all english isn't my first language, and i don't know if i can keep up with this level of discussion, but if i don't speak out my theories and ideas i think i will explode!

I devour all this discussion from the beginning till now, i confess i don't agree with all the theories presented, but a think this discussion is going on the right direction.

I always think that the ancient builders, use some type of technique to soften the stone, but that don't explain how is possible they could lift those gigantic megalithic stones, i will not theorise about that part or what technique they use to soften it. Now the important for me is the softening of the stone itself, but that don't explain the knobs on some of the stones, for me those knobs were never use for lifting the stones, but instead, it was how they mould the stone itself, by pulling excess of stone out, like if you work with clay, and you want to remove excess of material, in order to shift that corner of the stone so it fit perfectly with the other stone slab. For ex, look into the Sun temple on Ollantaytambo, and see the position of the knobs on the slabs, and look that on the side of each knob you see that the stone lowers a bit on the top, like if you are pulling out stone to shape it perfectly with the stone next to it, and for ex. the slabs on the outer edges, don't have any knobs, but you clearly see that the side that connects to the other stones is a bit lower. So for me the knobs were use only to mould and shift that part of the stone when the weight of the stone wasn't enough to provide a perfect fit.

I really sorry for my english poor abilities, i hope i made myself clear.
