Again, it depends on when that alleged original flooring was removed and what other activity had gone on in the room during all that time. Cleaning the floor can affect the bottom few inches of the walls as well. I think it's sufficient that the trickle evaporated at different lengths down the wall with each trickle causing an uneven margin at the bottom regardless of whether there was a cover to that floor.
