I am coming to believe that the degree to which a person is either part of their surroundings or marginalised. The amount of faith we have in our institutions and our leaders. Our financial well being and security. Our personal sense of self worth. all these and more , on a societal level rather than an individual one.....
that all these affect and effect they way we look at our past and thus understand it...or not.
A primary example of this to me is the notion of altruistic leadership.
Not a lot of reasons around us today for believing it's even remotely possible.
But when we learn that at brief times in our past that this kind of ideal has been realised...we can again hope for ourselves.
whether my AE past or you LC past..I think we both look to those for knowledge and perhaps inspiration?
