I believe they were more pragmatic and less symbolic.
They were more mechanistic and less egotistic.
They focused on the efficiency of group survival and not the waste of ruler narcissism.
Their blueprints may still be around somewhere still awaiting discovery, but it's not clear that the civilization would have felt any urge to take steps to preserve those blueprints for millennia.
