Hi Dune.
I've been up there.
There's four distinct stone laying techniques.
The outer lower granite.
The today's outer core.
The lower inner core visible in the gash and the upper inner core also visible in the gash.
The Arab demolition crew stopped work at that point for a good reason. Just too difficult to proceed.
I feel that the outer lower granite undulating surface finish is as intended, the idea of polishing the surface down flat once in situ is too ridiculous to even contemplate. Especially seeing as they were more than capable of producing a flat surface in granite prior to installation as shown in the video. The flat area around the doorway is also as intended. Don't ask me why... :)
The gash provided by the Arab demolition crew gives us a peek inside. It seems to be quite the opposite of G1 with the higher quality, more precision core block work on the inside. G1's outer core is backed by rough boulders.
Which of course gives rise to the idea that it's a modified step pyramid??
Queens pyramids.. Two stepped well built, and one not so well constructed regular pyramid.
Is it possible that an original smaller stepped pyramid had two satellite stepped pyramids?
On expansion into a true pyramid a third satellite true pyramid was added. More roughly built.
To my eye the stepped, satellite pyramid's block work has more in common with the main pyramids inner core.
For sure it's all very complex.
