This is why I asked the question early on about whether it might be possible that Giza was once at the 26.5 North (or South!)) latitude. I just don't see the logic of looking for an alignment with the nearest off-axis star vs. aligning with the actual celestial pole itself. If there was a credible geologic record of polar shift, then that might be interesting to correlate with various DP angles.
Meanwhile, I've already been working with Steve Clayton on Causeway incline angles and I'm attempting to correlate that with Nile level, keeping in mind the possibility that the Fayum may have been used in ancient times to regulate that level.
