I also can't write off cladking's notion about geysers.
But I agree with your principle which is why I support it. The main considerations in my mind is the timing and the materials used may vary from your 'preferred embodiment', but I hope by now you realize that I do appreciate the billiance of the logic of your model and believe it has enough merit to warrant further consideration.

There's no paintings or inscriptions anywhere, not just inside the pyramids. I know of no documentation anywhere by any eyewitness, builder, forman, vizier, royalty, etc., that gives us any hard indication that such construction actually occurred, or even could have occurred, during the 3rd millennium BC.
