Both orthodox and alternative evidence points to them being built during III - IV dynasty Egypt. Alternative like authors Bauval and their astronomy alignments working out to 2600 - 2500 BC. Orthodox with all the archeological findings including carbon dating etc.

The real problem with the pyramids is explaining how the ancients knew what they knew. Going back in time does not solve things. Going front in time seem to solve things but then we would have to explain time travel.

The reason is that if we are referring to very advanced beings , time is not a problem, and we don't know exactly how they relate to time.

I think others have referred to the Sumerians.

I am currently working on a different - parallel maybe "player", on a different continent.

I think we can root this type of information millennia before the Old Kingdom. But once again the answer is not another indigenous civilization(rooting from Earth).
