There are no real exceptions. You can't get a degree in Egyptology ore even talk to an Egyptologist if you don't accept the assumptions. Every single Egyptologist believes the people believed in magic and many gods and lacked science. Every single Egyptologist believes the great pyramids were tombs or cenotaphs. Every single Egyptologist believes there were no significant changes in the people or their beliefs between the Pyramid Texts and the book of the dead. Every single Egyptologist believes they must have used ramps or equivalent stinky footed means to build pyramids.

There are no exceptions. If any Egypologist spoke out against any of these beliefs they would lose their place in the pecking order and be excommunicated. This is what they are taught and this is what they believe. They can't defend it so if you don't accept it you'll be ignored.
