No human being was, is, or ever will be always right. No expert is always right and in the real world the defense can hire an expert that will say the exact opposite of the prosecuter's witness. No two experts ever agree. Coppens had many keen insights (more than Colavito) but probably wasn't as well read. He may have been a little "smarter" as well but he lacked the writing ability and support.
Come to think of it there's one way to know when someone is wrong; when everyone agrees about something they're probably all wrong. This works even better for the experts.
Coppens was good but then he had some "crazy" ideas too. He got his from logic and evidence and Colavito reads most of his in books or at Wikipedia.
