Exactly! the whole point of indented relief is that it can be added as an afterthought. As opposed to full relief which has to be considered during the initial architectural design phase.
Note the carving top centre, above the doorway is in full relief, therefore is likely to have been part of the architects original design. Everything else is a later addition. Adaption/modification
