The skeleton was found 21' beneath ground level and is only thought to have survived thanks to the acidic and salty soil. It was found near a known ancient burial site (in Shazand) which improved the odds of it being discovered and which confirms how unlikely it is to find human remains the farther back in time we we look for them.
Do we know why the skeleton was found so deep under the surface? E.g., I'm wondering if it originally was buried that deep vs. whether the passage of time bought a thicker layer of sediment to settle over the original site.
