Jon isn't interested in the overall stats.
Jon is interested in the earliest and the latest dates.
The earliest and latest dates indicated, tabulated and published by the results of the testing of individual samples..
For Example.
An age survey is carried out on a population .
One person is 90 years old
The remainder are aged between 20 and 40.
Does this mean that the 90 year old does not exist?
If an assumption is made that a 90 year old cannot exist.
Or...
We are only interested in 20 to 40 year olds, for whatever reason, say marketing, then yes we can ignore the outlier, the 90 year old.
We then ignore the outlier based upon an ASSUMPTION. (cannot exist, not interested in buying our products)
However the 90 year old still exists in the real world.
