I agree; I envision no deception, deliberate or otherwise. Osburn’s position was merely indicative of the sensibilities exhibited by certain learned men of those times, in a vein similar to that of the Morton brothers, Smyth, Taylor and a host of other contemporary writers. The full value of their Work is realized through their observations, and not of their filtered suppositions.

I don’t believe Mr. Colavito has ever been accused of having a “balanced viewpoint”. I regard him as an unapologetic skeptic; I do, however, believe him to be an astute researcher who rarely, if ever, makes definitive declarations without substantial foundation.
