Of course the big bucks are in Egyptology. Every year there are more Egypotologists gratuated with degrees that are unavailable to anyone who doesn't accept the big four assumptions. Every year many millions of dollars are funneled to researchers who can't even get a permit if they don't believe the four big assumptions. Every year many more millions of dollars go to salaries to maintain the status quo and the Department of Antiquities. Every year more money is spent and all of it goes to look for tombs, ramps, and bumpkins. Scholars can't work for free even if they spend 150 years and can't figure out what the simplest terms in the Pyramid Texts mean.
Who's funding the alts? Thew money, prestige, and the letters to append to the names all go to those who accept the assumptionsand virtually none gopes to the alts.
Despite all this money (or maybe because of it) they won't even do the most basic testing and release the results. They're too busy looking for gold to boost tourism to do basic science. They are too busy making oodles of money to even care about the facts.

Man fears the pyramid, time fears man.
