I'm merely disagreeing with your contention that Egyptologists didn'r start out thinking that the great pyramid builders were changeless and superstitious bumpkins who dragged tombs up ramps. If they didn't begin by the assumption of the conclusion that they had used ramps then they would never had ended up with the conclusion that they did in fact use ramps. They would have noticed that the evidence doesn't support this conclusion and that ramps would have been a most highly illogical means to raise stones. They are illogical because they are so remarkably inefficient. Why would the biggest lifting job in all human history have used the most inefficient possible means!!?? They assumed the conclusion across the board. They assumed the people were highly superstitious and religious even though their language is wholly incomprehensible. They assumed the pyramids were tombs despite the lack of direct evidence. They assumed G1 was built about 2470 BC even though carbon dating indicates it's substantially older.
They have put the cart before the horse and created a construct founded in assumption. They refuse to do the testing to falsify their own assumptions. When finally cornered into doing basic testing that proves they are wrong they just drop it like a hot potato.
Egyptology relinquished the high ground without so much as a peep. Now all they have is argument from authority et al.

Man fears the pyramid, time fears man.
