Last Post by Archae Solenhofen ) and I have been scrolling up to see what is going on - something about an urn……I read a few posts, and then saw a drawing, some of you folks can’t seem to figure out how this was carved? Like, ‘Oh, it must be High Tech Lost Civilization Mechanics and Technique???’……I am now up to this post of Audrey and how to move sand….Hopefully if I read up further there may be some one who understands how such a hollow can be carved and has explained it….I am just going to post some hints and you guys use your brains. I thought this topic was on Scott , I am not sure now, I am reading backwards, and the nips I have read thus far have not been on the Cartouche or Vyse….. so I cast mine in, and I am gone.
Actually, it is pretty dang easy, just various steps and techniques - and mostly ‘TIME’...If you are a Potter, or work with Clay, Stone and Plaster etc….and you understand measurements….(and you also have the skills of a ‘Chef’ as in cooking - but not really necessary), and a ‘Client’ asked for you to make such an Urn, (but you have never made one, but you need the job to pay the bills, so you say, “Okay, I can do that.”), now out of necessity and ingenuity you would figure it out. It is very simple……THINK…….. this is how things move and counter move……this cuts, this is abrasive, this gives me this shape, and so forth…get creative and it will come to you….
