Well... ...he's certainly right that people will believe any fanciful nonsense at all. They don't even need to know what they are believing or what they are disbelieving in the process. I'd wager very few of the people who utterly reject the concept of noahs flood even know the Bible says the water welled up from below as it rained.
People are content to just follow any herd that runs before them. "Belonging" is more important than being right. Today all skeptics just want to run with the big boys of science who are continuing the work of previous greats whether those greats were right or wrong.
