I would tend to follow your line of thought, but remember, as I tried to point out that the sampling in one region of the globe doesn't necessarily apply in other regions. The ammo behind the impact hypothesis is that the cooling wasn't global, it was localized and hemispheric, while warming actually occurred at the same time in more Southern Hemispheric regions. Also, around 10,000 BP there appears to be a global wet period indicating a collision of temperate zones. As is the Greenland core sampling. However, if other similar sampling techniques were offered during a given epoch, then there would be a basis for global theory. Does that make sense?

We would need to study a sampling of more than one hemispheric region to understand the difference of influence an epoch event had on the whole.....or not. Residual effects of a geological nature, however, is evidence that is hard to argue against. If Schoch is correct in his assertion that the Southern Hemisphere actually warmed during the YD epoch cool down in the north, then we also need to compare other zones at that time with similar sampling to dispel his theory or prove it. Also, I don't understand how he can theorize solar flares for cataclysmic epochs. What measurable historic evidence is he basing this theory on? I just don't know.
