A breath of fresh air. Thank goodness.
You're not alone:
See last paragraph here:
and also here:
I believe the physical evidence in the "prism stone" cavity and the DP floor at that junction hints of other hardware originally installed in that location, and makes me wonder whether the granite plugs might have originally not been installed as naked stone against stone but rather were part of a more elaborate -- and valuable enough to salvage -- gasket/grommet/valve assembly that has since been pilfered, e.g., by al Mamoun, et al.
You also might be interested in this perspective of the Granite Plugs that disputes the "security mechanism" hypothesis.
Also, I consider John Cadman's "hydraulic (ram) pump" model to be required 'reading' in any study of the "Great Pyramid Machine":
And don't forget Edward Kunkel's infamous US patent of a ram pump fashioned from G1's innards back in the '50s.

You're not alone:
See last paragraph here:
"For example, a very rough estimate tells me that a column of water that fills the Descending Passage in G1 from the main entrance down to the AP junction weighs over 50 tons. It may very well be able to bear down enough water pressure to slide back the granite plugs up the Ascending Passage, if the plugs were just sitting there, not so tightly jammed as we see them today, and the system was polished, lubed, and well-maintained to design specifications..."
and also here:
"...it's fair to assume the seal around the plugs is air tight at STP conditions. Regarding water, that depends on how much water and whether it's under pressure [ ;) ] and where the water is! We would need to consider,
1. static pool of water in the Ascending Passage bearing down on the plugs.
2. water in that same column, but under pressure (static or pulsed pressure)
3. static pool of water in the Descending Passage bearing up on the plugs.
4. water in that same column, but under pressure (static or pulsed pressure)
5. air in either column, but under pressure (static or pulsed)"
