Lake Titicaca was once open to the Pacific Ocean....proof is the sea-horses still living there.
Edit to add: I had thought that a reputable source, (this excludes Posnansky) had claimed that seahorses still lived in Lake Titicaca, but apparently, none have been found there. Also, there's this from the linked site: "There is evidence that Titicaca was once a saltwater sea. Its shoreline is littered with millions of fossilized seashells. The marine fishes and seahorses in the lake are all oceanic types found only in salt water."
The salt in the salt flats/lakes had to come from somewhere. My initial statement still stands, "Lake T. was once open to the Pacific Ocean."
The water/mud came to Puma Punku from the South in the (freshwater) river that flows thru the Basin when it was in flash-flood stage(s), centuries ago, Post-Abandonment, (about 1,000 A.D).

THE Cartouche in Campbell's Chamber IS Authentic, as are ALL other RC's Glyphs, until proven otherwise.
