Here, Eddie, is an article (very short) that may help to distinguish the difference between selfish and self-ish: It is neccessary to Care for onself, but not be offensive to others. I think that, unless one is slightly careless, or even self-destructive in nature, that being selfish to the degree which enhances one's existence IN ORDER TO COMPLY, may devise a more sociable environment in

The Great Courses lectures on "Redefining Reality"--lecture 17: I was deeply impressed with the notions and successful implementation of Behavior and its consequences. The first cause of this movement tested dogs' behavior, salivating as soon as a bell was struck. This was Pavlov's dogs. Now, we all must know how powers that be would, of course, utilize these social conditionings

Yve, you have a marvelous mind, and don't think you are being preachy. You ARE being informative and with your heart open to many unknowns, as well as knowns. Just continue to care; that's all it takes to rebuff critical thinking from others. That is the WAY to go. You can never catch a rabbit because it is way ahead of its opposition. The gain is to be saturated in wisdom and peace. That i

Susan, you MUST KNOW what happened to me TODAY. I had a sufficient amount of money to pay a due next week. However, my Medicare due showed up today and I was 77 dollars in the hole; basically overdrawn. My amount was 227 dollars; my Medicare was 304 dollars; so I was in debt to the bank. I did not know that Medicare would charge me twice this month, but they did. Lo, and behold, out of the bl

Yes,Yve, it is still waters now. The hectic youth is past. And I did grow my hair long twice as a teen and again at 50 (my friend in the 12-step group had long hair, and he is a native American). But no longer; besides, I like haircuts.

Susan, you just DON'T KNOW the grace that is applied to each person. I was a troubled youngster and today I have the UTMOST CARE over my personage, even though I don't actually DESERVE IT. I am safe from fear, harm and doubt that has contended with my consciousness over many years of suffering the waste I did in this world. I am confident that I receive UNDESERVED LOVE AND CARE that I could nev

I am not an absurd person. God, as I personally understand, is very much a builder of social creations. That's why there are so many religions to suit each category of race and/or religious propensity. I am convinced that for every personage in the climate of their upbringing in wherever they reside has a guidance that has been given to them is the most sufficient mental and social edification

Oh, yes, Yve. People have been treating me differently most of my life. However, when I first entered school I wasn't "learning" and so was flunked at two different grades. How do you flunk first grade? By being yourself. I flunked fourth grade at a private school for "difficult" boys, just because I did not know the rules there. Although, I did learn eventually. Then I went b

Perhaps my intellect likes Enigcom's parade of words. It is a stimulus of sorts. I like higher thoughts. Whether I'm lonely, or not, is the issue. I work five days a week. I have my routine chores. I like to explore MORE than is offered here on GHMB. Yes, I can be BORING, which is what some here may think of Enigcom's words. Oh well!!!! I, at least, give my best to this treatise of thought bec

I consider that hospital term as a mini vacation. I was in a safe place. I even read an entire book about the history of the church. There was one guy telling me that I was not doing the work. I had no idea about that. It wasn't until I was in a 12-step program that I was informed. That's over because not everybody "recovers" completely. Rough men were my travail, so I left the program

Yve, how I got there, initially, was that I was hearing voices; made me crazy. I was driving my van like a madman, the police took me to the hospital because I was not responding to their questions. Anyways, that was the beginning of my understanding.

Yve, I loved the stars; got the message!! You know, I only came across one famous person; at the hospital where I was in for three months (when they used up the insurance, they sent me on my way). I considered it a vacation, didn't do much other than read and converse with some of the patients, who, like me were wondering how we got there in the first place? Greg Allman drank alot when he l

Yve, right on target. Kill the useless avenues of socialization. That is to say, try ANYTHING DIFFERENT. You will be much happier that way. I may work with people WHO ARE NOT INTERESTED IN MY THOUGHTS; so I come here to shed some personal light upon the many subjects available here. Plus, I focus on consciousness as the PREMIER subject. If humankind is to move forward, then the mind is the

Yve, I really do GET what you are saying about living by the moment. I was always unprepared for the next adventure. It's hard to believe that I was a Boy Scout for a little while until I went overseas with my family. Be prepared was the motto of the Scouts. In fact, I was very neglectful of cars. I broke many of them throughout my life. I broke myself also. Long story. So, it is a wonderland

Ray, it's just another day here. I was an aspiring artist, but secretly I envied those scientists and inventers. My uncles on my mother's side were skilled in tools and the like. The guys I work with are very mechanically adept. My lack of study of anything science stemmed from a very loose teenhood. It was a major problem, which is why I went to a 12-step group, off and on for 15 years.

The paint of the painter is the very essence of Reality. The paint is the conglomeration of a multitude of parts making up the Whole of Space/Time. It is not so much our choice to realize this, but rather a moving matrix of the parts that are part and parcel of all that we are and do. Think about mind, for a moment, and consider how intense the activity of the mind really is. We say we cannot

Well, Ray, my heros are from, at first, Ahkenaton, the first Pharaoh who insisted that there is only one God, and not of the priests stranglehold upon the freewill to choose otherwise. Much later, I recognize and admire the rennaissance forgers: Bruno, Galileo, Da Vinci and later still, Maxwell, Pasteur, Edison, Einstein, Ford and just about any physicist of the 20th century. There are too ma

Ray, you say you are a Dualist. Yet I have said that I am an Idealist; I think all potentialities must exist HERE, before we go ANYWHERE better. Why? Because this is the prooving ground. Remember the four types of soil? The wayside; no soil at all; the rocks of little value, the thorny place of worldly pursuits, and the good ground where the seed flourished. If I was a philosopher of candor, I

Here are the lyrics to Buffy's song: Up Where We Belong Just as you were posting this song, I had a very deep realization that the body is incoherent and not in sync with the spirit. The body ages, frankly at every age: growing up, growing old. The slow body cannot keep pace with the spirit. "The flesh is weak, yet the spirit is strong". Songs like "Love lift us up&q

Daddy long legs spiders: poisonous yet harmless to humans. The irony of such spiders is that they ARE poisonous, but can't pierce our skin. I, myself tested a spider (so-named above) and nothing happened when it bit me. The question I am raising is how can a deadly spider contain within themselves a lethal poison without that poison affecting them? I say this in reference to our OWN TYP

There is always a 4-way intersection in our lives, which involve 4 choices every day. 1. Infinity: straight ahead to the unknown wonder of thoughts and experiences. 2. Derrogation to the left toward absolutely nothing significant whatsoever. 3. Augmentation to the right to all current knowledge of all facts that have "potential" aspiration of individual and social choices. 4

I agree, Yve. Giants to day are usually seven feet tall and the fact of THAT is evidence supporting the entrance of Annunaki DNA into the gene pool. Another aspect is the 120 year limit on aging humans. It would seem that the flood of ancient times had an effect on the atmosphere that inhibited the production of the Immortal gene in our ancestors. We are bound to the chemical, biological influenc

Ron, deep thinking involves not just an extensive vocabulary, but a REASON to use them well. Absolutely there is room for more, much more. Offering Manly P. Hall's book is an example of intelligent reading AND reasonable INSTRUCTION in thinking skills. Silly is for silly times, of course, and fun and laughter is a neccessary release of tension. Yet, NOT ALL OF THE TIME. We lose credibility
